What happens in the event of inclement weather, such as
rain, freezing drizzle or extreme heat or cold temperatures?
If weather conditions present a risk to the safety of passengers or horses, we
reserve the right to cancel. We do not cancel for rain until the last minute as
weather changes quickly. We do operate during a slight drizzle if cold
temperatures are not unbearable. Most of our carriages and wagons are equipped
with a roof that helps keeps passengers dry. We will not operate if the
temperature or weather is too unpleasant or is a risk to our horses or
passengers. This will always be at our discretion.

Is there a written agreement for service?
Yes. We will send you a written agreement pertaining to your specific
event. Once that is
signed and we receive it and your deposit (if required), your event will be
booked.

How early do I need to schedule?
To ensure availability, it is better to schedule early. We are busiest during
the spring and fall months and the holidays. Still, it may be possible to
schedule your event even on some short notice, depending on availability.

How long is a carriage ride normally?
It takes approximately 15-20 minutes to go 1 mile. Traffic, stop lights and the
route driven will also affect travel time. Carriage rides are quite enjoyable
for a maximum of 3 or 4 miles. Horses travel at approximately 4 miles per hour.
Carriage ride times vary depending on the event and location. Please call to discuss your ideas.

Is the driver appropriately attired for most occasions?
Yes your drivers will be properly outfitted for the occasion, usually a tuxedo
shirt, bow tie and top hat for most formal occasions and nice western attire for
wagon rides. We would be happy to discuss other dress arrangements to match your
event.

How is the horse and carriage decorated?
A few silk flowers and ivy may be draped on the sides of the carriage and a
floral arrangement on the dash and trunk of the carriage can be added at no
additional charge for weddings, ect. During the holidays, garland, ribbons and
jingle bells on the horses are used to add to the holiday atmosphospere. Holiday
music may also be played if available.

Do we need to obtain any special permits?
Permits are not usually required for public city streets. Horse drawn vehicles
still have the right of way in most areas. Permits may be required for “for
profit” events.

How safe are the horses?
Our horses are as safe as any animal can be working in traffic. Our horses are
experienced with cars and people. Busy roads and hilly or rough surfaces that
are too much of a risk or strain on our horses will be avoided. Each horse is
properly matched to each event according to his abilities. Safety for our horses
and passengers is first and foremost in all circumstances

Our event will be at night, does your company operate at
night?
Yes we do work at night. Our carriages have carriage lanterns, running lights in
the
rear as well as slow moving vehicle signs and brakes. We make sure to stay in
safe areas where we are well seen by traffic.
Top
Are the horses clean and what about the excrement they
leave behind?
Our horses will not leave a mess in front of churches, receptions or even in the
city streets because they wear diaper bags under their tails when they work in
town. Any accidents that might occur will be promptly cleaned up. Our horses are
shampooed and bathed before each event and manes and tails are combed.
